Antique Week Suggestions

If you have never been to the big Carmine-Round Top-Warrenton Antique extravaganza, you probably have questions as to where to go and what to do. The original fair starts October 1 and goes until October 4,but many vendors come the weekend before and there will be more than anyone can see starting Sept. 25. The shops in Carmine are open all year, but during the antique week they are open from early to late. Here are some suggestions to help make your trip memorable:
1) Book your room reservations NOW. There are a lot of B&Bs and motels in the area, so start checking now and finalize your plans.
2) Come whenever you can. The shops will be packed and ready to make great deals and the fields will be set up anytime after September 25 until around October 5. Some people like to come early and be the “early bird” while others like to try to get the last good bargain of the show.
3) If you are not familiar with the area, come to Carmine and pick up maps and copies of antique guides. The dealers will be happy to help you plan your shopping venture and make great deals on their estate finds.
4) Bring bubble wrap, tape, and boxes, and come in a large vehicle or several vehicles. Often a lot of friends come in one vehicle and there is no room for the purchases that you will want to make. Of course, you can always rent a U-Haul or you can come back to the shops and pick up the merchandise at a later date, but who wants to wait! Come prepared to take your goodies back home with you.
5) Wear comfortable walking shoes and bring an umbrella and a light jacket. This Texas weather is unpredictable, but it often rains for the show so come prepared.
6) Most established dealers take credit cards and checks, but some vendors prefer cash. Carmine State Bank has the ATM ready for those who need extra cash!
7) Carmine has a new restaurant that is really great, so put it on your “must do” list when you are in the Carmine area.
